Frankfurt became the meeting point for the European automotive and remarketing industry as two important events came together in one week: the CARA Europe Spring Meeting 2026 followed directly by the Used Vehicle Retail Summit 2026 by Fleet Europe.

For carmovia, it was an exciting opportunity to exchange perspectives, strengthen partnerships and actively participate in conversations shaping the future of used vehicle retail and vehicle logistics across Europe.

Starting with the CARA Europe Spring Meeting

As an official member of the CARA network, we joined the Spring Meeting together with Colin, Viktoria and Umut. The event brought together industry professionals from across Europe for a day filled with discussions, networking and strategic exchange.

A special highlight for us was the opportunity to introduce carmovia during the member introduction session, represented by Colin. Being part of such a strong and forward-looking network once again confirmed how valuable collaboration and open dialogue are within the automotive ecosystem.

Continuing at the Used Vehicle Retail Summit 2026

Right after CARA, the focus shifted towards the future of used vehicle retail at the Used Vehicle Retail Summit 2026, where carmovia participated as a Gold Partner.

Together with partners, customers and industry experts, discussions revolved around the key developments currently transforming the market:

  • Increasing used EV volumes
  • Changing customer expectations
  • Digital and data-driven processes

What stood out most was the openness of the conversations. The summit created an environment where industry professionals could exchange ideas honestly and directly – something that becomes increasingly important in a rapidly evolving market.

Selling Used BEVs requires a different Approach

One of the strongest takeaways from the summit was that selling used BEVs is fundamentally different from selling traditional ICE vehicles.

For combustion-engine vehicles, pricing and residual values have historically been driven mainly by:

  • mileage,
  • age,
  • and equipment.

For EVs, additional factors now play a much larger role:

  • battery technology,
  • charging performance,
  • software capabilities,
  • battery condition,
  • and even differences between model generations.

This means retailers and remarketers increasingly need vehicle-level pricing strategies instead of relying on traditional market logic.

Real-time market data and demand analysis are becoming critical tools for accurate pricing and residual value forecasting.

The Human Factor: Knowledge & Customer Education

Another important topic was the growing knowledge gap around EVs within automotive retail itself.

Several discussions highlighted that many sales organizations still feel insufficiently prepared for EV-focused customer conversations. As a result, educating both sales teams and consumers is becoming one of the biggest priorities for the industry.

Topics such as:

  • charging infrastructure,
  • battery lifespan,
  • operating costs,
  • and EV ownership experience

will increasingly influence purchasing decisions in the used vehicle market.

The summit made it clear that successful remarketing in the future will require not only data and technology, but also stronger communication and customer guidance.
